Website Content Writing
People say that writing for the web is very different than writing for print, because the web user reads the information on the web with different perspective than the user who is reading the book or printed medium. Though it is not very different, as the basic similarity is, good information for both the mediums. But I certainly took care of the following guidelines while writing for my website, though I may have missed many, I am sure…
Content
Keeping in mind the topic on which you have decided to build the website, content should be simple, informal , scannable, concise and easily understandable . If any technical term is being used then try to explain that beforehand. This is because user wants to scan through the pages and read the pages quickly, if the writing is simple and informal it will be easier to retain the interest of the user.Developing Credibility
While going through the website user try to judge the website quickly if the website is worth reading or leaving. Here comes the credibility of the website and the web publisher. If you are a new web publisher then providing the correct, update and well written information can help you to develop the credibility in the herds of web publishers.Heading Text and summary
Page heading and the summary will help the user to know if the information he is going to read in the page is required by him or not. It helps him to save his time and develop the mind frame of what he expects to read in the page.Simple Navigation
While reading a page there can be many sub links but they should not be too many that they take the user go so deep into another sub links and he gets confused and distracted where he had started and how to go back. So links especially Back and Home links should be properly placed on every page.Appropriate use of images
Images if required, should be used appropriately and should complement the page theme and the page heading. Image size is also considering factor as it effects the download time of the page.Looks consistency
All the pages of the website should have the same feel i.e color, font, size etc. Content is important but how it looks while reading is also important. By saying this I certainly do not mean that it should be overly decorated or flashy, but having a nice and consistent look of the website makes the user feel that he is on the same website and not been redirected to some other website.Page Length
The pages should be of proper length with properly created logical divisions and subdivisions based on the structure of your information.Fragments
While checking the page length the information should be appropriately fragmented as there are users who may want to get the printed version of the page and so many fragmented information might leave them frustrated with so many pages to print one by one. Back - Website Design Planning |
